Harold I. Daily, D.V.M., M.D.

Dr. Harold I Daily, a Texas native and a graduate of Baylor College of Medicine, received his medical degree in 1950 after receiving a DVM degree in 1948 from TX A&M University. He served an internship at Jefferson Davis Hospital and a residency in Ob/Gyn through the Baylor program. Dr. Daily began his practice in 1956. Dr. Daily is a founding partner of Southwest Ob/Gyn Associates, LLP.

Dr. and Mrs. Daily have one daughter, who is a free-lance writer living in Colorado. For the past 20 years, Dr. Daily has been affiliated with a non profit state program that provides family planning to qualified indigent individuals. Dr. Daily is part of a medical team who bring services and supplies to depressed areas of Central and South America every year.

Dr. Daily is certified by American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology and is a member of the Harris County Medical Society.
Katherine Diase, M.D.

Dr. Diase is a native of Brownsville, TX. Her early interests in humankind and science led her to pursue a B.A. in anthropology and biology from the University of Notre Dame. She is a graduate of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, where she also met her husband, Dr. Mark Vital. Her specialty training degree in obstetrics and gynecology is from the University of Texas Houston Hermann Hospital Program where she also served as Administrative Chief Resident. 

Other notable awards are Chief Resident of the Year and an award for Laparoscopic excellence. She is bilingual in English and Spanish. Her hobbies are reading, rollerblading, and growing orchids. She is the proud mother of her son, Coleman, and enjoys spending every spare moment with her family. 

Dr. Diase is certified by American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology and is a member of the Harris County Medical Society.

David G. Galvan, M.D.

Born and raised in Rosenberg, Texas, Dr. David G. Galvan, was awarded his medical degree from the University of TX Medical Branch in Galveston, TX. Dr. Galvan received his BA degree from the University of Houston and his MD degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He completed his internship and OB/GYN residency at Hermann Hospital through the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Dr. Galvan began his practice in 1977. Dr. David G. Galvan is a founding partner of Southwest Ob/Gyn Associates, LLP.

In March of 2006, Dr. Galvan went with a mission group to Antigua, Guatemala to provide surgical assistance to the needy women of Guatemala. He and other physicians performed many major surgeries and at the same time enjoyed the culture and the hospitality of the community. Dr. & Mrs. Galvan have three sons. His main hobby is playing tennis, which he tries to do several times a week. Dr. Galvan is bilingual in English and Spanish.

Moona Haque, M.D.

Born in London, England, Dr. Haque moved to Texas as a young girl. She received her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX in 1996. She served her Internship at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She then returned to Texas for her Residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Dr. Haque was appointed Chief Resident for the last year of her residency, from 1999-2000. Dr. Haque began her medical practice with Southwest Ob/Gyn Associates, LLP in August 2000 and became a partner in 2002.

Dr. Haque has published several papers in medical journals, and has received a number of academic honors and awards during her training. Dr. Haque's personal interests include running, sewing and traveling.

Dr. Haque is certified by American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology and is a member of the Harris County Medical Society.
Gene E. Huebner, M.D.

Dr. Gene E. Huebner, a native of Bellville, Texas, attended the University of Texas in Austin and the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where he received his medical degree in 1976. After completing his residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita, Kansas, he returned to Houston, Texas, where he began his practice in 1980. He is a founding partner of Southwest OB/GYN Associates, LLP, and is Managing Partner. In 2004 and 2005, Dr. Huebner was named "Best OB/GYN" in Fort Bend County in the Fort Bend Sun's Readers' Choice Awards. Dr. Huebner serves as Perinatal Director at Methodist Hospital in Sugar Land.

Dr. Huebner was recently selected as "Physician of the Quarter" by the staff of Methodist Hospital in Sugar Land. The certificate presented to him by the Birthing Center staff noted that Dr. Huebner "...spends time talking to his patients in a calm manner; understands the patient's perspective; always takes time to explain procedures to patients while also including their families in their plan of care." It goes on to say that Dr. Huebner is "always pleasant to work with...so professional, calm and understanding with all staff and patients." "We are lucky to have such a great doctor to work with who truly cares for his patients and the staff. Excellent knowledge and experience; excellent clinician; [Dr. Huebner] demonstrates his knowledge and experience in every delivery."

Each year, Dr. Huebner leads a Sugar Land/Fort Bend County-based team on a medical mission trip to Guatemala through Faith In Practice. The team provides medical, surgical, and dental care to the poor and medically underserved. Dr. Huebner and his wife, Kathy, have seven children (equally split between the University of Texas and Texas A&M; the youngest is still in high school).

Dr. Huebner's special interests include endometrial ablation, Essure (non-invasive tubal sterilization), and reparative gynecologic surgery (prolapse repair).

Jessy Joykutty, D.O.

Dr. Jessy Joykutty, a native of India, settled in Oklahoma at the age of 8. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1994 from the University of Oklahoma and went off to complete her Doctor of Osteopathy degree at the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1999. Dr. Joykutty served an internship and residency in OB/Gyn at RE Thomason General Hospital in El Paso, TX and then Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, TX. Dr. Joykutty was the Chief Resident her senior year and an appointee to the Advisory Counsel. She has vast experience and training in high risk obstetrics/forceps, vacuum, breech deliveries and extractions. She is proficient in gynecologic surgery, including laparoscopy and hysteroscopy. 

Dr. Joykutty has received numerous recognitions in her profession including Provost's List of Academic Excellence from 1995-1999. Dr. Joykutty was recently selected as Physician of the Quarter by the staff of Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital.  Dr. Joykutty enjoys reading, racquetball, jogging and spending time with family and friends. She resides in Houston with her husband Charle Thomas.

Sundara P. Kulkarni, M.D.

Dr. Sundara P. Kulkarni, a native of India, came to this country as a fully trained OB-Gyn with post doctoral qualifications. She had additional training in Hartford, Connecticut initially, and then at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston. She began her practice in Houston in 1980 and is a founding partner of Southwest OB/Gyn Associates, LLP. She is Board Certified in OB/Gyn and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and also a member of many local and national Medical Societies.

Dr. Kulkarni has received numerous awards in her profession, including the Maxine Lever Award from MD Anderson Hospital and Best Chief Resident award from St. Joseph Hospital. She was the first Ob/Gyn to be selected as “Physician of the Quarter” at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital and also recently at Methodist Hospital at Sugar Land. Her peers comment that “she is a pleasure to work with, knowledgeable, kind and very caring to her patients.” Dr. Kulkarni has presented numerous public information seminars, television and radio talk shows on various topics related to women’s health.

Dr. Kulkarni and her husband, PB, are proud parents of two daughters who are also practicing physicians. She enjoys Ping Pong, being a National Champion, loves painting (some of the paintings are portrayed in our offices), swimming and an avid believer in Yoga promoting physical, mental and spiritual health. She also enjoys music and dancing.

Currently Dr. Kulkarni is practice Gynecology exclusively, focusing on general gynecology and related surgeries, infertility, contraception, menopausal issues, hormones, bladder issues and other gynecological services related to women’s special needs.

Maurice N. Leibman, M.D.

Born in South Africa, Dr. Leibman emigrated to the U.S. in 1975 after receiving his medical degree from the University of Pretoria in 1974. Having completed a six-month surgery/internal medicine internship in South Africa, he served his residency in OB/GYN at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, and as Chief Resident from 1978-79. Dr. Leibman began his practice in 1979. Dr. Leibman is a founding partner of Southwest Ob/Gyn Associates, LLP. 

Dr. Leibman has received numerous awards in his profession including his most recent 2005 Physician of the Year for Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital. Dr. Leibman was voted Texas Super Doctors and Top Doctors in Texas by Texas Monthly in 2005, and Best Doctors in America by Inside Houston. Dr Leibman was the President for the Houston Ob/Gyn Society in 2004. Dr. Leibman has years of experience managing symptoms of menopause and has extensive experience in the use of natural hormones, the individualization of hormone therapy and the enhancement of libido. In March of 2006, Dr. Leibman went with a mission group to Antigua, Guatemala to provide surgical assistance to the needy women of Guatemala. He and other physicians performed many major surgeries and at the same time enjoyed the culture and the hospitality of the community. Dr. & Mrs. Leibman have three children. His chief hobbies are scuba diving and underwater photography. Dr. Leibman also holds a black belt in martial arts, Chung Moo style. 

Dr. Leibman is certified by American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology. He has voluntarily Board re-certified annually from 1999 to 2005. Dr. Leibman is a member of the Harris County Medical Society.

Patricia S. Mitchell, M.D.

Dr. Patricia S. Mitchell, a Texas native and a graduate of Baylor College of Medicine, received her medical degree in 1985. She served her internship & OB/GYN residency in the Baylor College of Medicine Affiliated Hospitals program from 1985 - 1989. Dr. Mitchell began her practice in 1989. Dr. Mitchell is a founding partner of Southwest Ob/Gyn Associates, LLP. 

Dr. Mitchell and her husband, Howard, have one daughter, and have always enjoyed close family ties. Their social life revolves around their extended family. 

Dr. Mitchell is a member of the Harris County Medical Society.

Charles E. Pehr, M.D.

Dr. Charles Pehr, a native Houstonian and a graduate of the University of TX Medical Branch in Galveston, TX, received his medical degree in 1972. Dr. Pehr served an internship and residency in OB/GYN at the UT Medical Branch in Galveston. He then became Director of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, where he remained from 1976 to 1977. Dr. Pehr began his practice in 1977. Dr. Pehr is a founding partner of Southwest Ob/Gyn Associates, LLP. 

Dr. and Mrs. Pehr have 2 children. His major interests outside of his family and medicine are reading (mainly historical novels and biographies), running in marathons and golf. He has completed marathon races in Boston, New York, Chicago and Houston.

Jody L. Pinkerton, M.D.

Born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska, Dr. Pinkerton lived there until graduation from the University of Nebraska with her BS degree in Biology. Dr. Pinkerton worked as an X-ray technician for 3 years in Oklahoma before attending the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, where she received her MD degree in 1993. She did her internship and OB/GYN residency training at the University of Texas Medical School - Hermann Hospital, finishing in 1997. Dr. Pinkerton began her practice in January 1998. She joined Southwest Ob/Gyn in October 1998 and became a partner in 2000.

Dr. Pinkerton received many awards and honors during her training, and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. Dr. Pinkerton and her husband, Ben, have 3 children. Her outside interests include spending time with her family, swimming, cooking and exercising.

Harold G. Scholin, M.D.

Dr. Harold G. Scholin received his undergraduate degree at Baylor University and then his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in 1972. He moved permanently to Texas in 1972, and completed his residency at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, TX. Dr. Scholin began his medical practice in 1976. Dr. Scholin is a founding partner of Southwest Ob/Gyn Associates, LLP. 

After moving to Texas, he met and married his wife, a corporate attorney who practices in a downtown Houston law firm. They have two sons both in college; one at USC and the other at TCU. Dr. Scholin's interests outside the office include travel with his family, and visits to Galveston and the Texas Hill Country. He has interest in contemporary art, history, cruising antique shops and spur collecting.

Janine J. Sherman, RNC, MSN

Born in Pennsylvania, Janine Sherman spent many years in Arkansas, and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at Arkansas State University in 1984. After graduating from ASU, she worked in various nursing positions including research in osteoporosis at Johns Hopkins University. In 1996, she received her Master's degree in Nursing from the University of Texas-Houston, specializing in women's health care. Since graduating, she has practiced as a Nurse Practitioner and is an instructor in the graduate program for women's health care at the University of Texas. Janine Sherman joined SW Ob/Gyn Associates, LLP in August 1999. 

Janine and her husband, Dr. Steve Sherman, have 3 children. In her free time, she is active in her children's schools and extra-curricular activities as well as local charities. 

Janine Sherman is certified by National Certification Corporation and is a member of the Houston Area Nurse Practitioners and Texas Nurse Practitioners.

Jane A. Starr, M.D.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA., raised in Westwood, MA, Dr. Starr moved to Texas in 2004. She received her BS degree in biology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, located in Troy, NY and subsequently received her medical degree from Albany Medical College, Albany, NY in 1981 as part of a 6-year combined BS-MD program. She served her internship and residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Worcester, MA and was chief resident from 1984-85. Dr. Starr began her practice in 1985. Dr. Starr joined Southwest Ob/Gyn Associates, LLP in September 2004. 

Dr. Starr and her husband have two children and her interests include music (spectator and participant), gardening and hand-crafts.
